Nottingham Heritage Vehicles OTO540M, Hucknall Bus Depot, 10-01-2016
An earlier Nottingham Standard, in as delivered livery, is OTO540M, which was delivered in 1974 and along with the rest of the batch spelt the end of the AEC Renowns on Bulwell - Trent Bridge service.
An excellent restoration, the only difference from as delivered being the black window rubbers. In this period, many operators experimented with alternate rubber colours to match the liveries. NBC red buses at least had grey; this batch of Nottingham vehicles had green, which still survives on some of the interior glazing. I believe that the colourisation process affected the life of the seals - I remember the green ones apparently drying out and cracking - so I am not surprised this feature has not been recreated. In case anyone thinks that is a criticism, far from it - I have total respect for an excellent job done to a very high standard.
