The route betwen primarily Kildare and Naas is the subject of quite heavy competition. In addition the the Bus Éireann 126 Kildare - Dublin PSO service, complete with additional shuttles between Kildare and Naas, there is Dublin Coaches Portlaiose - Dublin Airport service with the recent additional Kildare - Naas short workings, and this service, marketed as K-Coach.
This Solo is a recent import, and means all services except the publicly funded 126 are low floor and fully accessible - Bus Éirean uses coaches with lifts, leading to service delays when used.
Whether the PSO service is good value for public money is debateable, although it has been given competitive advantage as the only service allowed to run directly to Dublin city centre. Better value could probably be obtained by reducing the 126 and granting other operators - who run across a much wider portion of the day - the chance to operate without public support.
