43123, Minehead, 7-5-2005
One of the most bizarre sights I have seen on a preserved railway. 43123 has arrived at Minehead after working the 1305 from Bishops Lydeard. Several power cars and coaches were stored on the line between having been bought by First Group after operating for Virgin, and the WSR managed to get permission to operate a set during the gala. This power car never operated for First; due to issues over the modifications for push-pull working during its' East Coast days, and the need for ATP for operating on First Great Western, it was swapped for another power car. Now re-engined, and renumbered 43424, this power car operates with Grand Central.
