NCT 738, 607, King St Nottingham, 07-01-2016
A comparison of the most recent double deck bodies supplied to Nottingham, as Scania / East Lancs 738 in Network Lilac 25 livery passes Enviro 400 bodied 607 in Go2 Red Line 43 livery.
The 25 is one of the logest serving routes on NCT, with references back to the mid 1930s when it ran as a circular via Carlton Road and Mansfield Road, terminating at Thackaries Lane. The Mansfield Road leg was dropped over the years, and the Carlton Road route eventually extended to Arnold. Although quite indirect, it provides useful links where the road network is orbital rather than radial.
The 43 to Bakersfield is the latest incarnation of the Sneinton Dale services, formerly 3 and 59, later 3 and 4, when the buses round alternate ways round the loop at Douglas Road. There is now a single route, as the loop is done one way only.
