NCT 918, Coningswath Rd Carlton, 22-07-2017
Now this is a photo that brings back memories! I attended what was then known as Frank Wheldon Comprehensive School in the late 70s to mid 80s, and with an interest in buses tended to spend a lot of my lunchtimes here recording buses, and getting to know many of the drivers on the route. Despite this, I had until today never taken a photo here!
Scania N230UD / East Lancs 918 stands at the Elmhurst Avenue terminus of the 27, ready to return to the city.
In my time, destinations from here were far more varied, as were the unbranded buses! Services over time included 72 to Wollaton Park, 21 to Balloon Woods, 23, 28 and 29 to Bilborough. 27s started from Carlton Square. Buses were of course Nottingham Standard bodied Atlanteans and Fleetlines, but with several different body manufacturuers, and the odd specials like the re-bodied Fleetlines and the much lamented Atlantean rebuild 500.
