Barton Buses 307, Ring Leas Cotgrave, 1999
Seen on the 22 to Plungar, when that service still extended beyond the Cropwells. In Barton days, I visited all sorts of odd villages on variants of this service, including Stathern, Harby, Barkestone, Plungar, and Redmile. Usually, these carried nobody, and services beyond the Cropwells gradually diminished, even with local authority support. The Rushcliffe Villager service has reinstated some of these links, including usefully to Bingham - a gap which existed in the late 80s and early 90s.
The bus is one of two (the other being 308) which were at this time dedicated to the route, as they were fitted with eqipment to operate the council's NextBus real-time system. You can just make out the small GPS aerial on the roof above the destination display. At this point in my career, a significant portion of my working life was spent climbing around buses and shelters keeping this first-generation scheme running!
