90129, Basford Hall Yard, 21-08-1994
A vision of the future! Back in 1994, the Channel Tunnel was seen as the great hope for railfreight in the UK, both block and wagonload. As part of the publicity, the brand "Freigh Connection" was coined, and four class 90s given the English, German, Belgian and French cersions of the name, and liveried in the colours of each national operator (RfD in the UK case). Here we see 90129 in DB red.
The machinations of privatisation and freight contraction mean that was was RfD is now actually part of DB, and this loco now carries the current DB red livery. Germany may have lost in Europe militarily in 1945, but by 2017 they had taken Europe over economically!
