After the signal cleared, I was waiting for the 1600 to dash through non-stop. However, as it came rounfd the corner near Ratheven, it was clear that it was not doing the normal 90mph, but running much more slowly. It eased into the platform and stopped, and the driver let me know that the loco was still suffering loss of power, even after last weeks tests. After a pause, he regained power and with a wave off he went.
Sadly, the cure was not complete, and the train was further delayed at Ballybrophy after struggling up the bank at reduced speed. It did howver get make it back to Heuston, but it's booked working on Saturday was worked instead by a 5ICR.
