NCT 393, Upper Parliament St Nottingham, 13-08-2018
Enviro 200 393 swings into King St as it nears the end of its run from Carlton Valley. While a 39 to Carlton has historical precedent, that was via Carlton Hill to Carlton Square, starting as a tram route and later operated by trolleybuses. The current 39 is nearest to the old 65, which along with the 9 and 54 (and later the 15), later 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 operated via Thoneywood Mount and Porchester Road variously to Valley Rd, Simpkin Avenue, Netherfield and Woodthorpe Drive Top.
The current service describes a large loop at it's outer end, significanlty extending some journey times in relation to earlier services - possibly accepted grudgingly on the basis of a captive market combined with steep hills in the area.
