56113, Manchester Victoria, 25-11-1987
A train of Yorkshire coal heads west trhough the station heading for Fiddlers Ferry power station. 56113 is looking relatively clean! It was of course one of the last of the class built at Doncaster before production moved to Crewe to allow Doncaster to concentrate on the class 58.
Almost all of this scene has gone. No longer do Yorkshire collieries supply coal to Fiddlers Ferry; the HAA hoppers have been replaced by large capacity bogie hoppers; the class 56 is all but extinct on the network; and of course the station is a shadow of its former self.
