For many years, the staple power on the Cumbrian Coast route were the batch of class 108s allocated to Carlisle Kingmoor. Visitors were rare, as units had to be fitted with window bars and limited opening vents due to limited clearances on the Maryport and Carlisle built section of the line.
This two car set picks up with a northbound service to Carlisle. Note the old coal wagons in the sidings. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected regular class 37 hauled passenger trains would be running through here 35 yeaars later!
