A shortage of second generation DMUs meant that Regional Railways had to retain loco haulage into the Privatisation era. Eventually these workings were concentrated on the North Wales coast, using 37s on rakes of four mark 2s. Some locos gained the smart sector livery to match the stock - although hired in chocolate and cream mark 1s sometimes spoiled the image!
Some photographers get annoyed at people walking into shot at open days, and can be somewhat vociferous in their approach. I have always taken the view that they are part of the scene at such events, so no apologies from me for their presence!
