Electric Buses
Electricity was used to power much urban transport in the form of trams and later trolleybuses in the early 20th Century, but the flexibility and lower capital cost of diesel especially in the growth period after world war two saw these decline and vanish. Envirnomental concerns have led to a long-promised improvement in battery technology, and electirc buses are beginning to appear on the streets again - without the infrastructure costs of wires and poles!
