Barton Buses 304, Radcliffe Road West Bridgford, 1999
Running towards Nottingham on a Rushcliffe Lines L1 (or Line 1 as the then marketing director insisted!), is Optare Delta 304.
L1 was Bingham - Nottingham via the Radcliffe Bypass; L2 ran via Radcliffe village. L3 was Nottingham - East Bridgford (later Bingham) via Radcliffe, Shelford, and Gunthorpe, while L4 ran to Radcliffe Clumber Drive. The net result was a bus every 15 minutes to Nottingham from both Bingham and Radcliffe. L1 and L2 were operated by Deltas 301 to 306; the others by Mercedes midis 271 to 274, all fitted with NextBus equipment.
The route has undergone several changes over time, including different brandings, and has perhaps been one of the least settled of the Trentbarton brands. It now runs via West Bridgford town centre, so no longer serves this section of road; the time penalty being offset by the revenue potential, although it did raise complaints at the time -an unusual case of the company moving away from the route taken by the motorist, something much trumpeted on other brands such as the Spondon and Ilkeston Flyers. It is operated by Tempos, strangely enough with fleetnumbers 301 to 305, and Solos on the "Villager" part of theservice.
