Maun GKA64N, Victoria Bus Station Nottingham
No date on this one. Maun were a Mansfield based company, operating a mix of commercial, tendered and school services alongside tour work. The company used a variety of second hand vehicles on local bus and schools work.
At this time I was employed by the Public Transport of Nottinghamshire County Council, and tended not to take too many bus shots for fear of causing issues when out on the road as my role often required. As a result, this is (as far as I can find!) the only shot of a bus from this operator. At least it was a rarity!
Britsol VRs of course were a staple in this facility, with Trent and East Midland operating NBC standard ECW bodied versions. This VRT2 however does not conform to this norm; it was new to Merseyside PTE, and carries an East Lancashire body to that operators specifications. Very unusually for a VR, this includes and Atlantean style "bustle" at the rear, to improve engine access, compared to the far more common flat back on this type.
It is a Sunday; the 357 was operated commerially by Trent in the week, with evening and Sunday operation tendered, with Sundays in particular having varied operators over the years, including midibuses from Pathfinder of Newark!
